Adebayor completed a £25million move to City from Arsenal last week and has insisted the huge financial incentives on offer were not a factor in his decision to sign for Mark Hughes' side.

Reports in the lead-up to his switch to City had suggested the Togo striker's agent had also tried to drum up interest from Premier League rivals United and Chelsea.

United bossSir Alex Ferguson believes there was contact regarding a desire to move to Old Trafford and is in no doubt about Adebayor's motives for joining City.
